Maenad stands for the female followers of Dionysus and the most significant member of Thiasus, the God's retinue, in Greek mythology. Their name literally translated means raving ones.
The concept was to bring the display feeling of the Windsor within the Americana. Therefor, Windsor became our main refernce for the typeface and Americana acts as the secondary one. As our revival typeface Windsor is from the Art Nouveau era and inspired entirely by nature elements it has unique characteristics, we wanted Maenad to serve a feminine spirit with an essence of grace and sharp modernity in its characteristics.
